After a Global Outage, WhatsApp has Returned to Service

According to BBC, “The messaging platform WhatsApp has come back online after an outage that affected users around the world.”

WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, stated that the issue had been resolved but did not provide an explanation. Just before 10am, users of WhatsApp, which has around two billion users worldwide, started to report problems with sending and receiving messages. According to the service status website Down Detector, more than 12,000 reports were logged in less than 30 minutes.

However, service appeared to be restoring for many users around 12pm. Meta said that the issue has been solved. Numerous users of WhatsApp said they were unable to send or receive messages on social media as a result of the app’s issues. On Tuesday morning, users who attempted to use the app were met with a “connecting” notification.

Users were impacted by the outage in the UK and other countries, according to internet monitoring company NetBlocks. The application is a well-liked tool for group communication for social, professional, and parental purposes as it provides end-to-end encryption for messages.
