Instagram Tests Take a Break to Help Users Manage Time Spent on The App

Instagram has recently announced new features in an effort to help teenagers and parents manage time spent on the app. Using this new feature, parents will be able to set time limits for their younger children, while teenagers will be reminded to take a break.

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri, announced yesterday, December 7, 2021, the launch of the new feature letting people know that “take-a-break” is now available in the UK, Ireland, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

According to his post, if someone has been scrolling for a certain amount of time, the app will ask them to take a break and suggest that they set reminders to take more breaks in the future.

It’s also worth mentioning that a new tool for parents will be launched within the first half of 2022, which will allow them to view and control the time their children are spending on the app. As Polarity Technologies has learned from the BBC news, one more relevant feature will let teenagers to opt-in to a system that will inform parents when the teenager files a report against an IG user.
